### 1. The Main Categories of Trash (ゴミの種類)

In Japan, trash is strictly separated to protect the environment. The names might vary slightly depending on where you live, but here are the most common categories you need to know.

日本では、環境を守るためにゴミが厳しく分けられています。住んでいる場所によって名前が少し違うこともありますが、知っておくべき一般的なカテゴリーをご紹介します。
