### 1. Entering the Restaurant (入店 – Nyuten)

When you walk into a shop, the staff will usually shout **”Irasshaimase!”** (Welcome!). Don’t be shy! You can simply nod or raise your hand slightly. To tell them how many people are in your group, you can use these simple phrases.

お店に入ると、店員さんはたいてい**「いらっしゃいませ！」**と言います。恥ずかしがらないでくださいね！軽く会釈をしたり、手を少し挙げたりするだけで大丈夫です。何人か伝えるときは、以下の簡単なフレーズを使いましょう。

### 2. Ordering Your Food (注文 – Chumon)

When you are ready to order, you can raise your hand and say **”Sumimasen!”** (Excuse me!). To order a specific dish, just say the name of the food followed by **”o kudasai”** (Please give me…).

注文が決まったら、手を挙げて**「すみません！」**と言いましょう。特定の料理を注文するときは、料理の名前のあとに**「をください」**をつけるだけです。

### 3. Essential Phrases During the Meal (食事中 – Shokujichu)

Japanese restaurants often provide free water or tea. However, if you need more or need a napkin, you can use these helpful words. Remember to say **”Itadakimasu”** before you start eating!

日本のレストランでは、お水やお茶が無料で提供されることが多いです。もしもっと欲しいときや、ナプキンが必要なときは、これらの便利な言葉を使いましょう。食べる前には忘れずに**「いただきます」**と言いましょうね！

### 4. Paying the Bill (お会計 – Okaikei)

After finishing your delicious meal, say **”Gochisousama deshita”** (Thank you for the meal). To ask for the bill, you can say **”Okaikei o onegaishimasu.”** Note that in Japan, most people pay at the register near the exit, not at the table.

美味しい食事を終えたら、**「ごちそうさまでした」**と言いましょう。お会計をお願いするときは、**「お会計をお願いします」**と言います。日本では、テーブルではなく出口近くのレジで支払うことが多いので注意してくださいね。
